Senior officer for plant conservation, Generalitat Valenciana

Dr Emilio Laguna (Valencia, Spain, 1961) is a Biologist PhD, working as senior officer for plant conservation in the Generalitat Valenciana (Autonomous Govern of the Valencian Community). He was the pioneer proposing and developing the protection of rare, endangered and
endemic wild plants through networks of plant micro-reserves (PMRs), a model which has been exported to different sites worldwide and particularly through the European Community. He is member of several IUCN’s specialist groups. In 2004 he had received the Planta Europa Silver Leaf Award for excellence in conservation of the European wild plant species.
