Dr. Hassan Rankou is a British-Moroccan plant conservationist trained at the Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II in Morocco and the University of Reading in the UK. His research focused on analysing the effects of climate change and biodiversity conservation of the Moroccan flora. He is also an IUCN-certified trainer and assessor on plant and ecosystem conservation and a certified climate change modeler from Imperial College University, London. Hassan is founder and director of the Moroccan Biodiversity and Livelihoods Association and the focal point for the IUCN Moroccan Plants and Livelihoods Specialist Group. He is currently an Associate Researcher with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in London; his research interests include biodiversity conservation of the Moroccan flora, climate change effects, wild plants crop production, ethnofloristic databases as well as participatory livelihoods projects with local communities. Hassan teaches plant conservation assessments and herbarium techniques in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Reading.
