Nigel Maxted (senior lecturer at University of Birmingham) has professional expertise in in situ and ex situ plant genetic conservation, he has published over 350 scientific papers and 20 books. He led/leads National, European and International Crop Wild Relative and Landrace conservation projects and consultants for FAO, GEF, World Bank, CGIAR and national agencies. He is Co-Chair of the IUCN SSC CWR Specialist Group; Chair of ECPGR In Situ Working Group; Chair of the UK PGR Committee; Senior Scientific Advisor for the GEF / World Bank on PGR Conservation and Honorary Research Fellow Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
Nigel will be leading the “Plant Species Conservation Planning” Capacity Building the 24th October.
